About FLEX Insights
FLEX Insights helps you understand how your customer population uses energy, identify the customers, technologies, and characteristics driving energy demand, and identify load flexibility potential.
Using interval meter data and other customer information, FLEX Insights lets you explore energy use across multiple dimensions, including consumption and demand patterns, detected end uses and technologies, property characteristics, customer attributes, rates, sectors, and geography.
You can use FLEX Insights to answer questions such as:
- Which customers contribute most to peak or evening demand?
- How does energy use differ across customer types, locations, or building characteristics?
- What end uses are contributing to a population's energy consumption?
- Where are technologies such as EVs, electric heating, cooling, and solar present across the customer population?
- How do those technologies affect when and how customers use energy?
- How do different customer populations compare?
How FLEX Insights works
FLEX Insights is built around Segments and Reports.
Segments define the customer populations you want to understand. You can build Segments using energy usage, modeled end uses, technology detections, property characteristics, and customer attributes.
For example, you could create a Segment of customers with high evening peak demand, residential customers with detected EV charging, customers with electric heating in a particular climate zone, or customers on a specific rate.
Reports let you analyze and compare those populations. Reports bring together Segments with visualizations and metrics that help you understand energy consumption, load patterns, end uses, and differences between populations.
Together, Segments and Reports provide a workflow for moving from a broad question about your customer population to a more specific analysis.
What you can explore
FLEX Insights provides several ways to understand your customer population.
Energy consumption and demand help you identify customers based on characteristics such as annual usage, peak demand, and evening energy use.
End uses and technologies help you understand how heating, cooling, EV charging, solar, baseload, and other loads contribute to customer energy use.
Property and customer characteristics provide additional context such as geography, climate zone, home characteristics, sector, rate, and other available customer information.
Population comparisons let you bring these dimensions together to understand how the energy characteristics of one Segment differ from another.
This makes FLEX Insights useful both for answering specific questions and for discovering patterns you may not have known to look for.
